Matt is a Northern Californian at heart with a penchance for travel, variety, and viewing the world through many eyes. Born in the eclectic city of San Francisco he later attended high school in Marin county. Deciding to go to college at Humboldt State two weeks before school commenced, Matt walked onto the running team where he eventualy became a scholarship athlete. Following college, at 24, he opened the regions first climbing gym and several other local business endeavors followed. After nearly 20 years in Humboldt, he moved across the Atlantic to live in a famed climbing region south of Paris, Fontainebleau. Back living in Northern Calfornia, Matt is sharing his photography journey that he coninues to learn and hone.
The idea of documenting his travels had always interested Matt and on a flight, he met a cancer survivor who was a photographer. During the journey, this fellow passenger shared every ounce of photography knowledge he knew. After the trip, emboldened by the finite nature of life, Matt purchased his first camera setup and got to studying.
Feeling a true connection to travel and nature, you will find these subjects influencing many of the photos in his body of work.
